CNET: Breakthrough material is barely more than air

Researchers at HRL Laboratories created a woven mesh of hollow nickel tubes, it is considered the least dense material on earth. "Its volume is 99.99 percent air, and its density is 0.9 milligram per cubic centimeter--not including the air in or between its tubes"


It also has the property of rebounding by 98% after being compressed, making it good for absorbing shock
